Summary of the stories

The blind musician

Seven hundreds years ago it was a battle in the sea, in a place called dannoura. It was the last fight between the two and genji people, all the heike soldiers died with a woman and a child, and the emperor child. Then the heike ghosts hunted the coast, those ghosts were dangerous for the ships because at the night the ghosts turn them down in the sea.

A Buddhist priest pray to the spirits of the dead, at that time lived a young blind man called hoichi, he was famous because he performs poetries and plays the Biwa. Suddenly he was better than his teachers, when he plays the danoura song even the bad spirits cried. Hoichi was pour, but he loves poetry and music. The next day he wait the priest to practice Biwa, the priests draw Chinese lyrics on the body of hoichi, for later cut the ears of hoichi.

The fortune teller’s story

A young man a samurai had hard times. Like thousand of others samurai, he suddenly had no work. He learned to be a fortune teller; he traveled on foot to other towns. There were two main reasons for this, first he really believed what he told to people, second he was a find a quiet man, and the people wanted him.

He read to book of the iching quite well but he was not always right when a skilled fortune teller uses the I ching he told his costumers it is never wrong I some times make mistakes but only because I cannot always read the song correctly.

The people tell him, and he continue traveling town for town, he love his free life all people speak about him, and he was happy.
